The decking around our backyard, in-ground pool was in need of a makeover. We went with textured, flat, irregular cobblestone with a randomly placed pattern. We used a medium-gray stamped cement with a dark gray cement grout. Textured cement surfaces make a great choice to use around a pool deck as they are slip resistant when wet.
Our old cement pool deck was in pretty good shape, if not a bit boring. Adding patio pavers around the pool was not an option so we decided to add a stamped concrete overlay on the top. We picked Salzano Custom Concrete, in northern Virginia, for our deck renovation.
Non-Slip Concrete Pool Deck
You need to have a non-slip surface around your pool so there is no need to worry about splashing water from people jumping in and out of the water. We decided to go with a matte sealer, with an anti-slip additive, for the surface of the concrete.
For the pool border we went with a dark gray brick pattern, which perfectly caps off our outdoor deck project. Concrete requires little maintenance, is easy to keep clean and is economically priced for every budget.
Cement flooring is easy to keep clean with simple sweeping to get rid of any dirt. Once a year we plan on pressure washing the surface for a more complete cleaning. We can’t wait to add our patio furniture around the deck and start using the pool once the weather warms up a bit!
